| This projector is awesome.... For about $1100, I now have a 106" 'flat screen' TV in my media room. I was a bit hesitant about picture quality and wasn't sure this was the right product for me. So, before I went through all of the hassle of wiring the whole room and then not being happy with the projector, I decided to do a test. I took the HD cable box and connected it to the projector. I turned on the power and pointed the projector towards the brown wall of my media room. In about 60 seconds, I had a huge, clear, bright picture EVEN ON A BROWN WALL !!!! I'm going to paint and frame that part of the wall white so I'm sure it will be even better. My room is in total darkness, so I'm sure that helps. But I would suggest this as a perfect low cost projector. Only drawback is that there is only on HDMI port, but I think they make adapters for that now. |

so i had an hc1500 ( i think, it was the mitsubishi 720p 1700 lumen) and it was just ok...the throw distance sucked on it and the zoom did virtually nothing. The mitsubishi just wasnt bright enough for my game room and for the money your basically getting a projector for the same cost, but its twice as brite. The controller is better for sure and mounted in the same spot as my mitsu the screen is a foot wider and taller on all sides (i think i have a 10ft wide screen now which is awesome). Personally i think the picture looks better and dammit who wouldnt want a brighter projector in general....its all about the lumens uless you're mounitng your projector in a lightless cave. My only issue with the thing is that optoma decided to use m3 hardware to mount it and the screw arent included. (they REALLLLY want you to purchase one of their mounts) and the instructions are on a cdrom rather than printed which sucks in general(who wants to run back and forth to their computer?? Its pretty easy to figure out using the built in menu though. The other thing is that it seems..kind of cheaply put together. The Mitsubishi just felt a little more solid in my hands....it really doesnt matter though if your hanging it from your ceiling. The projector has a built in speaker which some complain about but i think its a good option and if you have a muddy surround sound like me it makes the speech in movies a little more audible. 1 thing that pisses me off is that i purchased what amazon said was a "new" unit and the bok had tape on it and im pretty sure i was supposed to get a cord that plugs into a computer which i did not. I havent called them yet but its going to happen.
Anyways i like the thing a lot and if your trying to decide between this and the mitsubishi serious i would go with the optoma. I mean come on...its almost twice as bright |

| I have average knowledge when it comes to projectors; at 12.5' it projects a very nice image on an 106" screen. I have a grey, 1.8 gain Optoma Greywolf II screen and I am very pleased with the image. As for the noise created by the fan I have no complaints like other reviews I have read. |

| I purchased this projector through [...]. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE! They call to confirm purchases, they follow up the purchase through email (AWESOME!) even 6 months after the purchase! Anyways, great connections: HDMI, VGA, DVI, RCA, Component. The ONLY problem I have with it: no audio out! HDMI carries Audio and Video, but there is no way to get Audio out. Why would I need Audio in? I don't know, but I found a work around and have enjoyed this projector ever since I purchased it. It's fairly bright in my Living Room if I close the blinds and pull the shades. Worked amazingly well when I had it in my "Man Cave" for gaming/movies. Definitely worth the money! |
